A little bit about us

The founders of Love Somebody are four close mates.

From different backgrounds and parts of New Zealand it’s their Polynesian roots and their faith, belief in people and a personal drive for success that unifies them. Powerful life events set them soul-searching and asking questions about how to make a positive impact. Ultimately it was the loss of a friend who took his own life that caused Steve, Wes, Mani and Simon to try and make a difference. Their soul-searching led to ask – what can we do to stop this from happening again? From this space of deep respect, understanding and LOVE, they found their reason.

Their response was to create a charitable organisation to stand in the gap and make a positive difference in people, families and communities.

This is how Love Somebody charitable trust was born. Today Love Somebody delivers Pasifika-flavoured Mental Wellness Programmes designed for all members of the community.

 Our Programmes

Love Somebody focus on three areas of mental health & wellbeing.

  • Connection

Our programmes are founded on love and centred around mental wellness. We identify the common barriers and struggles Polynesian people face on their journey. We teach practical tools and techniques that help our people overcome life’s challenges.

  • Advocacy

We are helping to make communities aware of mental health issues and their consequences. We are committed to encouraging open discussion and becoming an active voice across relevant media.

  • Research

We enable and perform original research into mental health issues related to Polynesian people.
